The Josep Piqué Art Foundation presents the Josep Piqué Awards to the Reus School of Art and Design and inaugurates the Piqué | Designer exhibition
On January 28, at 6 p.m., the Josep Piqué Awards for the 2023-2024 academic year will be held in the Sala Llimoner of the Reus School of Art and Design to award students from the Reus School of Art and Design in the specialties of Ephemeral Architecture and Projects and Direction of Decorative Works, instituted by the Josep Piqué Art Foundation. One recognizes the best curricular trajectory, and the other recognizes the best execution of the final degree project. It is therefore a question of valuing the dedication, effort, tenacity, talent, creativity and personal rigor of the students of the EADReus.
In parallel, the Josep Piqué | Designer Exhibition will open and can be visited until March 7. A set of unpublished pieces that show, for the first time, a little-known side of the artist in which he moved with versatility, innovation and his own personality in the 1950s and 1960s. Studying at the Barcelona School of Architecture in 1931, he learned about the birth of the GATCPAC (Group of Catalan Architects and Technicians for the Progress of Contemporary Architecture). He was impregnated with its concepts and designed furniture and lamps of a very personal nature and also auxiliary household items with unconventional lines and colors. He also approached jewelry design and graphic design.
