23rd ICRE Seminar: Angels, winged figures and representations of death in Catalan cemeteries.

On Wednesday 1 December, at 6.30 pm, we will hold a new Seminar at the Clarà Library (Carrer del Doctor Carulla, 22-24, 08017 Barcelona). This time it will be taught by Montse Oliva and will have as its title: Angels, winged figures and representations of death in Catalan cemeteries.

The speaker gave us a brief description of the conference: “In the previous conference we talked about the iconography of angels in Catalan cemeteries. In the next one, we will expand on some aspects related to angels and also talk about the iconography of winged figures such as the "fugitive tempus", as well as the symbolism and representations of death such as the lying sculptures.

Montserrat Oliva Andrés graduated in Art History from the University of Barcelona in 2016 with her final degree project entitled "Funeral sculpture of the Montjuïc Cemetery in the" end of the century: a state of affairs " . Master's degree in Cultural Management from the University of Girona with obtaining an honors degree in the final master's thesis "Heritage and cultural management of the Montjuïc Cemetery". He has published at the University of Barcelona, ​​the Open University of Catalonia, the University of Malaga, the "Harokopio University of Athens" and in the Bulletin of the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi, among others. He currently gives lectures, guided tours and collaborates in the Artfunerari project of the University of Barcelona. Coordinates the "Group for the research and dissemination of funerary heritage".

As always, a small exhibition of 8 sculptures by some ICRE members will be inaugurated. This time they will be: Cristina Vázquez, Anastasia Khavaeva, Luis Clúa, Ignasi Lisícic, Josep Bofill, Conxita Bori, Raquel Toisón and Rosa Castellà.

Very important !: everyone is reminded that the event is held inside the Library. Therefore, the use of a mask is essential.
