Pere Baguena inaugurates “Batec”

The sculptor and member of the ICRE Pere Baguena inaugurated his sculpture "Batec" in the Gran Via park in L'Hospitalet. The work is dedicated to the blood donors of the city.

The sculpture is an open metal heart, symbolizing the altruism and generosity of donating blood. The company Aedas Home together with the Catalan Federation of Blood Donors have promoted this initiative. The piece comes from an international urban art competition, which Pere Baguena won.

The author emphasizes representing the heart's ability to push blood, and also as the intimate space where we keep our feelings."The beat is the force that the heart organ makes to push the blood and distribute it all over the body. As this sculpture is for blood donors, so it is named "Batec", because of the strength that people have when making this altruistic gesture of donating blood," says Pere Baguena, the Sculptor of "Batec"
