Cold patinas for sculpture
15, 16 AND 17 JULY.
Taught by Adrià Arnau and organized by Mer Jiménez
In this intensive three-day course, we will learn to make patinas to apply on terracotta and plaster, achieving different chromatic effects that will give the pieces a high quality finish.
The course will focus on the imitation of metallic qualities (bronze, iron, etc.) through the application of tempera to shellac and glazes with pigmented wax.
As a complement to these techniques, we will experiment with the application of egg tempera to extend the chromatic possibilities of the sculpture.
During the course we will learn to:
To adapt the surfaces of our terracotta or plaster sculptures to be able to skate them and that the polychromy is durable.
Treat the rubber flakes to prepare primers and binders.
Color the wax in paste with natural pigments and learn to modify its density and opacity to apply glazes.
Make tempera paints and combine them with different effects.
The course will take place at the MEAM on May 15, 16 and 17 at the following times:
Monday 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tuesday 16 from 16 to 19h.
Wednesday 17 from 16 to 19h.
Each student must bring the first day a piece in plaster or terracotta that does not exceed 40 X 30 X 30 cm. to make a patina on it.
The rest of the materials are included in the course.
The price of participation per student is € 160
Places limited to eight students per session
