The Museu Can Mario in Palafrugell presents the exhibition: Josep Clarà. L’univers de l’escultura.

This exhibition is curated by ICRE partner, historian Cristina Rodríguez Samaniego. Focusing on the figure of Josep Clarà i Ayats (Olot, 1878-Barcelona, 1958), the exhibition opens a window into the world of one of the most important Catalan artists of the twentieth century, who lived for much of his career in the city. of Paris. An emblematic and surprising sculptor, Josep Clarà starts from symbolism to drift towards proposals with classical and Mediterranean roots, linked to Noucentisme.

“Josep Clarà. L’univers de l’escultura” invites the viewer to delve into Clarà’s work and creative temperament through his most important works, as well as lesser-known ones that are on display for the first time. At the same time, it allows us to know the processes and techniques of sculpture. The exhibition presents multiple and complementary perspectives that combine, with the aim of fostering a broader reflection on art and beauty, heritage and our culture.

The exhibition is made up of works of various materials and techniques, from the Josep Clarà collection deposited at the Museu de la Garrotxa d’Olot (MCGO).
